Rainy day fun!

In need of a few ideas for the kids this half term?

Why not pop into Flo-Jo Boutique and pick up a craft kit or two to entertain them on a rainy day.

We've got lots to choose from for different ages and abilities. Molly the rabbit is a popular choice for the girls and our felt shark is fun for the boys too. Plus, you might find a treat for yourself as well!

Vintage Pattern Cape Coat Course

New to our workshop calendar is a fabulous vintage pattern winter cape coat. It will be running for 5 weeks starting on Thursday 6th November 6:30-9pm. £120 including wool fabric.

You will learn how to follow a vintage pattern, line or bind your cape, make welt pockets and bound button holes.
You will be able to choose from a selection of wool in the shop. We have a choice of plain colours, as well as check, tartan, and the very on trend houndstooth. This is included in the price of the course.
You will also need lining fabric or binding and buttons.

New in this week!

We are very excited to have had a delivery of new winter fabrics this week, with more to come, throughout October.

Tartans are a popular winter staple and we've got two lovely styles in so far; a traditional Royal Stewart red tartan and a more subtle blue black tartan.  We also have a very on trend monochrome Hound-tooth, which would make a fabulous statement pencil skirt or pair of tapered trousers.

There is also a beautiful Herringbone organic cotton.

They are available in the shop now, so pop down to ‘check’ them out.

Lampshade Making Workshop

Hats or lampshades?

Yesterday we had a lovely group of ladies, learning to make drum-style lampshades.

We took them through the whole process; ironing, lining up, measuring, placing, rolling and finishing. (With a tea and biscuit break in the middle) By the end we’d created a perfect 30cm lampshade for the ceiling or a table lamp.

They looked great and we had some perfect matching with chevrons and dots, which are not easy!

New in this week!

New in this week we have the September Blue collection from Dashwood Studio, designed by Susan Driscoll (theprinttree.com). 100% cotton £14pm.

The collection is described as having a nostalgic colour palette to recall long hot, lazy days walking in the countryside amongst the wildflowers, birds and butterflies.

The mustard shade is my favourite, especially for Autumn/Winter 2014. I think it would make a perfect Peter Pan collar blouse.

Lampshade Making Workshop

Saturday 20th September 10:30am-1:30pm

Due to popular demand we will be running Lampshade Making Workshops. You will get to make a 30cm Drum-style Lampshade which can be used as a pendant or standing lampshade.
All specialist materials will be provided, so all you will need to bring is half a metre of a fabric of your choice.

You will leave with a professional looking lampshade as well as all the skills to make more.

We are happy to advise on patterns and fabrics. A dress-making weight cotton is ideal. We offer a 10% discount for workshop customers. So pop in and see what catches your eye. We have lots of fabrics, trims and we also sell lampshade kits so you can make more at home.
